The other week, I popped into my local health food store to get my Iron supplements and some ingredients. I was chatting to one of the naturopaths about the best Iron supplements when an older lady must have overheard me.

She approached me afterwards and offered some advice that had worked for her. The lady must have been in her late 60’s but her skin was amazing and absolutely glowing! She looked the picture of health so I was intrigued as to how she had kept her glow.

She was also a vegetarian and said her doctor is amazed at how high her iron levels are whenever she gets tested! She let me in on a secret formula that she has been having for years and has done wonders.

Every morning, into her smoothie, she adds the following ingredients:

  • Almond Milk

Great for Fiber and a plant based source of protein

  • Sesame Seeds

Highest source of calcium in plant foods

  • Flax Seeds

Full of Omega-3 essential fatty acids, “good” fats that have been shown to have heart-healthy effects

Chia Seeds

rich in fiber, omega-3 fats, protein, vitamins and minerals

  • Spirulina

A great plant based source of iron & protein. good source of antioxidants, B-vitamins and other nutrients.
